About Me

Alex Kapnek, LPC, CSAT

Most people who reach out to me aren’t new to struggling. They’ve usually tried to change—on their own, in therapy, or by simply being more disciplined—and yet something still isn’t shifting. If that’s where you are, you're not alone.

I'm Alex Kapnek, LPC, CSAT, and EMDR-trained therapist, and I founded Metamorphosis Therapy Center to create a space where people can heal without judgment and show up exactly as they are. I help people learn how to approach life on life's terms rather than staying trapped in cycles of avoidance, shame, addiction, or self-criticism. My approach is warm, direct, compassionate, and grounded in the belief that meaningful change happens when we feel truly seen, understood, and supported.

The therapy I provide is LGBTQ+ affirming, and I am committed to creating a space where all aspects of your identity are welcomed and respected. I understand that many people carry the weight of stigma, rejection, minority stress, or shame, and I believe healing begins when we no longer have to hide who we are.

I specialize in working with adults navigating substance use disorders, chemsex addiction, compulsive sexual behaviors, trauma, and relationship challenges. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve them—whether that's addiction, unhealthy relationships, emotional disconnection, or behaviors rooted in unresolved trauma. Together, we work to understand the underlying causes of these struggles and build a path toward lasting recovery and fulfillment.

As a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) and EMDR-trained clinician, I integrate evidence-based approaches that help clients move beyond symptom management and toward genuine healing. My work is informed by trauma therapy, attachment theory, and an understanding of how identity, sexuality, relationships, and addiction often intersect.

I am particularly passionate about supporting individuals recovering from chemsex and helping members of the LGBTQ+ community navigate the complex intersections of addiction, sexuality, trauma, and shame. Recovery is about far more than stopping a behavior—it's about building a life that feels authentic, connected, and meaningful.

At Metamorphosis Therapy Center, my goal is to help you better understand yourself, develop healthier ways of coping, strengthen your relationships, and create lasting change. Therapy isn't about becoming someone else—it's about becoming more fully yourself.

No matter where you are in your journey, healing is possible. I would be honored to walk alongside you.
